Bi-Weekly Current Event #2

Martin Hejek, September 10!, March 7 2013

This post is about the new IPhone 5s and 5c and whats new and improved.

"Apple unveils two new IPhone -- the 5S and 5C"

Gross, Doug. Kelly, Heather. "Apple unveils." CNN Tech. CNN. 11 Sept. 2013. Web. 27 Sept. 2013. <http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/10/tech/mobile/new-iphones/index.html?iref=allsearch>.

This article is telling about the new IPhone. The 5c comes in many different colors like green, yellow, blue, pink, ext. They are going to have a new way to lock the IPhone. The processing speed on both will be greater also. They wanted to have the new and better smart phone but also wanted to make it available to more people. The price on the 5c is only $99 for 16GB and a 2 year contract.

I think both smart phone will be awesome. I might even be getting the new blue IPhone 5c. This will be the first IPhone I get, so I'm excited. There is many new additions that I think were needed. I love the colors and how they are supposed to be faster. It's great that they are finally making one that is more affordable.

This will impact the world in a few different ways. The price will make it more available. Also people in other countries might be more interested in buying it. The new camera will be good for people who love to take pictures. The faster processor will make it more useful for work related activities. It might also get Apple to the top selling smart phone spot again. In this article it says "Apple's device is now down to about 14%, while Android phones account for a whopping 79%." This was the percentage of sales. Apple is ever expanding and growing. (Apple unveils).

Bi-Weekly Blog Post #2

This week was full of new information. Some new terms this week were...
Publish which means to publish to your audience or the public.
Trustworthy which is the act of being honest.
Evaluate which is to examine carefully.
Criteria which is the standards you base your judgement on.

The new web 2.0 tools I learned about this week was Diigo, Prezi, and Mixbook. Diigo a website that lets you save information, screen shot web pages, and highlight text on websites. It can be really useful when your writing a paper or doing research. You can even get an extension for it for easy access. Some good aspects are that its easy to use and its free. Something I don't like about it is that you can pay to make it better or go premium. I think it could help more people if all aspects of it were free. Prezi is a websit that you can use to present something. Its free and really easy to use. It is my favorite tool for projects I need to present. Mixbook is a website you can use to make a scrapbook online. Its free to use. You can add pictures and captions. You can present it online or if you want, you can buy it and they will ship it to you.

The digital literacy component I learned about this week was how to evaluate a website. It will help me to be able to get accurate information on anything I need or want to know about. You use three things to check the website which are bias, authority, and accuracy. It can help me so that I don't find a false website and without knowing sound stupid when it is wrong.

This new information really affects me because now I have an easy way to check websites for accuracy. It will help me when I'm writing papers for school and in the future when I'm doing research for my job. I am now armed with something that can really be useful in the future.

This has been a really good week. Every week is great but this was a really good one. It flew by. I think my favorite class is history but I really like all my classes. Lunch is my favorite time of day. I just had really fun in all my classes and I cant wait for next week

I love coming to school to see my friends and my teachers are awesome. I really enjoy certain parts of the week and look forward to them. One of my favorite things we do is write in our journals. It gives me a break to give my opinion and then just write whatever. Its really fun. Something I'm excited about that is new is our field trip. I cant wait. I get more and more excited everyday.

Bi-Weekly Current Event #1

Carlos Luna, Google, September 3 2008

This post is about the war being waged on apps that steal from your phone.

"Google Is Waging War on Apps That Attack and Steal From Your Phone"

This article is on Mashable.

Mirani, Leo. "Google Is Waging War on Apps That Attack and Steal From Your Phone." Mashable. Quarts, 5 Sept. 2013. Web. 6 Sept. 2013. <http://mashable.com/2013/09/05/google-changes-play-app-store/>.

In this article it tells about the differences in Apple and Android (Google). It tells how they manage their app stores and keep the apps or users safe from spam. They are the leading app services, so they compete with each other. The main point of the article is telling why Google is deleting certain apps from their store and its because the apps are corrupted and unsafe.

I agree with what Google is doing with their store. It seems to be a good thing and a great idea. It affects me because I have two Android devices that use the Google app store. It is really annoying when you spend the time or money to download an app and it turns out to be a fake or imitation of the original. It is also annoying when apps are mainly adds and cheat you out of your money. They make some apps where you don't even want to bother dealing with it. It can make you very frustrated.

This is a very in the world today. Many people have devices that use apps. In the Google Play app store there is about one million apps. There is an app for everything. The easier it is to use the app or the more useful it is, the more popular it is and that means more downloads.  In this time apps are becoming more important and being used more often. Apps can now be used to help at work or school. There are many apps just for those purposes. I think this can really help and will be useful in the future. It could even be the rise to get Google to be better than Apple.
